Degrade - Hanged And Disemboweled ( Permeated Records )
For those who need a help about little hints to Degrade, the band is one my favou Sweden brutal death metal with groove touch in the vein of Soils Of Fate and Fleshgrind. Full load of satisfaction guaranteed if you buy this album, althought this cd content 6 tracks but you will get smashed to the ground everytime you play the cd so make sure you are wearing some protection before having a serious injury, blasted and kicked by amazingly constant grinding from this Degrade, a moshpit burner motherfuckers !!! "Hanged And Disembowel" is an important stuff to have in 2005 which is a year of brutal death metal stand up, completely good cd with genious cover art I've ever seen done by Joel Sta from Pyaemia...buy it !!
rating point 10/10

Degrade - "Hanged and disemboweled mCD"
After seeing Degrade and playing live with
em on Corpse Feast about a year or longer
ago, me and Manne started talking a bit and
from then I've pretty much followed their
developement and a while ago they
got signed to Permeated Records (thanks
for adding me in the thank you list btw
guys!) and this is their first effort,
a mcd that was first supposed to
be released by Embrace my funeral
Records, but due to communicationproblems
Degrade looked around for another label
and I'm glad that they got the
chance to work with Andrea.

It's nice to finally hear Degrade
with better quality than their previous
release and you can really hear
that these guys are promising.
After Yoda (Star Wars anyone?)
have whined about him feeling pain
and suffering about how much pain
and death he feels Degrade launches
forth with their first track entitled
"Repulsive gore" and its an impressive
mix of disavowed/severe torture with
more groovy elements that literally
beats your face to a bloody pulp.
Manne now has more range and he has
more energy and depth and I was
suprised to hear Victor (one of
the guitarists) doing back-up
vocals as well, probably some
of the most guttural shit I've ever
heard coming out Sweden.

Not only does Degrade have some
good looking artwork and well-designed
booklet, but they also got a
really clear and heavy production
produced by Studio Nätverket,Panic
Room and Criteria Mastering. The
production really reminds me of
the latest Disavowed production
actually, good stuff, close to
perfect actually. The only thing
I would like to "complain" on
is the kickdrumsound that I personally
think sound a bit too thin and
"clicking", but other than that
it's good stuff.

This album gets 4,5 out of 5. Much has
changed when it comes to Degrade and I
know (or at least hope) for a certain
that this release will change how
people look at swedish death metal
a little more. If you're into
Severe Torture/Disavowed, but add
some breakdowns and grooves that
are a bit catchier than the average
US death metal slams you hear pretty
much in every band today.

Uffe 4,5/5

BROKEN GLAZZ WEBZINE

This is definitely not a new recording of 'Studio 100'. This production of 'Permeated Records' is more than just a brutal piece of dismemberment. Degrade offers with 'Hanged And Disemboweled' a MCD 6 tracks counting brutalisation upon those who yet think who might be still amongst the living. Entertaining brutal vox sounding like 'Disavowed' and recent 'Disgorge'. Manne growls like a frustrated yet controled beast into the mics acompagnied by Victor who gears the back vocaling. Guitars makes you think about 'Severe Torture' and sometimes overriffed 'Cannibal Corpse' stuff. Last but not least drums pounding as if the drummer is beating up another torso still making kicks.

I don't know but all tracks are kinda original on there own way. The first track on the album 'Repulsive Gore' introduces with the help of our best friend Yoda (Star Wars... geeks should definitely know what I am talking about). When you arive at the third track, titletrack, 'Hanged And Disemboweled' the tempo takes a step back but that's just to assault you on the rest of the album. All tracks are combined with the nescesary break beats and tempo switches. Brutal to the bone...

This 5 piece from sweden deliverd with their first effort a masterpiece. I am already looking forward to their next album. If that's going to be in the same vein as this one, no worries at all.

For fans of 'Devourment', 'Disavowed', 'Cannibal Corpse', 'Panzerchrist'... it should already be spinning in your players.

SHADOWS OF DISGUST WEBZINE

six songs on this mini-cd, performed by one of the newest additions of Permeated Records, namely the young swedish lads of Degrade. They play a
strong mix of US style and more European sounding Deathmetal. Grinding, heavily blasting, in the vein of country mates Immersed in Blood and Insision. The name Guttural Secrete appears in the list of bands the boys of Degrade like to listen to and if you do the same this mini-cd is bound to
make you happy. Well build and thought over death with low, almost barking grunts in the vein of Stabwound and Soils of Fate. The nice slapping
bassguitar sparks out and gives this album a fierce attack and clear sound. Also the dry and triggered drums are a positive presence of the, thight played, whole.
One remark is the fact that originality isn't something Degrade is looking for, not at all actually. If you have 9 euros, (incl. p&p) this one is yours and that amount is totally worth the music. With a somewhat more own face/sound this cd would have been a total recomendation, for now these guys are kind of overruled by above mentioned bands.

BRUTALISM

US Brutal death metal is not only bred in the US but these guys from Swedish Degrade know the tricks too. Fast and blasting death metal with deep growls and rapid switching guitarriffing. Degrade does build variation in tempo and with the melody changes. Ofcourse it is hard to be very original but Degrade delivers a more than fine MCD with nice artwork. Food for brutal death metal fanatics.

MY LAST CHAPTER

Hell yeah! I looked forward to the promised debut, after getting introduced to Degrade's music with the Feasting on bloody chunks demo. I'm not really sure, but if I'm not mistaken this MCD was supposed to be out on NTEY Rec. But I suppose that just like Strangulation they changed their mind, and went with a different label. And Permeated definitely seems like promising new label.
Anyway... As soon as I pressed the play button I instantly recognised the sound of Degrade. After just a demo and a MCD I think they've already created a sound of their own. This death metal monster promises to become a force to be reckoned with. The massive sound showed off here could just as easily be done by any of the major bands, I would not have guessed it to be a debut. Gored growling of high quality, wicked drumming, cool bass sound and killer riffing just hitting you on the head like a ten ton hammer - Smacking you into the ground, leaving you craving for another blow!
I guess that Cannibal Corpse stood for some of the influences here, as well as Deranged. Pulverizing death metal, grinding, growling, spewing gore and limbs in every direction.
The artwork's really cool, and the entire booklet looks amazing. Everything about this 19 minutes long CD is supreme. But what I don't understand is why only three lyrics are included. But I suppose it doesn't matter. As long as Degrade continues creating such powerful tunes, I can settle for only half the lyrics. 9/10 /Kristoffer

Guttural Zine

“Pain … Suffering … Death I Feel!“ With this few words as introduction DEGRADE from Sweden are propounding a clean clubbing track with “Repulsive Gore”, which is switching between crazy blast attacks and mid-tempo parts. The guitars are ajusting themself to the speed and are threshing brute or fireing one slamstyle riff after another one up to your ears. Added through this is a deep, guttural voice, which could not be better fit in this master plan. But there is not only guttural singing, also some screaming lyrics can be percieved, but these are confining for example up to a short “MOTHERFUCKIN’ BURN!” or something similar like that. Like a red thread this concept is going to be spun and executed consistend, what is working good for this MCD, because where the new Enmity has been to undiversified, DEGRADE are not making the same mistake. Every track has it’s own riffs, breaks and blastbeats, so that there is still a lot of fun to listen to this MCD again. Also the production from “Hanged And Disemboweled” does not need to hidden and shows some other newcomer bands how to do it right. Drums which are not mixed to the foreground and also not sunk in the background, guitars, which are harmonizing with the good to hear bass and above all a sweet (J) guttural voice, which is alternating with little screaming vocals make “Hanged And Disemboweled” a nearly perfect CD without notable mistakes or disruptive influences. Sometimes i think, i have listened to the new record of PROPHECY, because the style of the riffs, DEGRADE are playing really remembers me on the guys from Texas. As a negative point you could call the short runtime of 19 minutes, but as it is a MCD, it’s totally ok and wrenches the rating only down for a minimum. At the end there is a MCD, which has been brought in really cool, nearly perfectly mixed and with a high grade of diversifications. Right now i’m glad to listen to the first full lenght record of DEGRADE, who have slipped a new wind into the often monotonous clubbing-genre very easily. Thumbs up for this debut and this cool band! 90/100
